Health:
All our trek and camping staff carry a basic first-aid
kit equipped to take care of minor ailments. However
you are advised to take along your specific medication
if required.
The most common health problem in the hills is
diarrhea due to various reasons. However we ensure
that you are supplied with ample safe drinking
water and hygienically prepared food. We also
make sure you get the right amount of acclimatization
before heading into higher altitudes. Our staff
is well trained to notice symptoms of high altitude
sickness and take adequate measures. Those with
heart disease, high blood pressure asthma or vertigo
may not be able to undertake some of our treks.
Just tell us which trek you'd like to go on and
we can suggest one suitable for your condition.
Note: It is important that you take out personal/medical
insurance before commencing on any trip. Your
policy should carry cover for repatriation and
helicopter rescue. Also carry a photocopy of all
your important documents.
Food & Water:
All our food is vegetarian prepared hygienically
by our expert outdoor cooks. Our cooks' repertoire
of cuisine includes Tibetan and Western dishes
- delicious, in plenty and most of all nutritious.
A typical breakfast would be - fresh porridge,
cornflakes, milk, eggs and parantha (wheat bread)
with Tea, coffee, hot chocolate or herbal teas.
Lunch is varied with mixed vegetables, boiled
eggs and chappatis prepared fresh every morning.
Dinner is wholesome with hot soup, rice, chapattis,
lentils / beans, vegetables and a dessert. Of
course you can also let us know if you want a
particular kind of diet before we start the trek.
All water used in treks and camps are purified
although you may want to bring along some iodine
tablets as an added precaution. You are advised
to bring along a water bottle - the metal type
- so as to avoid any use of plastics in the outdoors.
For washing we provide hot water each morning.
Baggage:
Our trek equipment and supplies are normally carried
by sturdy mules, horses or Yaks. Sometimes a particular
trek route may require the use of porters. Just
carry what you need on the trail like your raincoat,
camera, spare socks, and your water bottle. For
your rucksack we provide water proof canvas sacks
which are loaded on the horses.
